STATSMAN’S BLOG: A couple of questions

And so the 2011 season concludes for the Calgary Stampeders, beaten by themselves in front of a not-even-half full Commonwealth Stadium. As of 5:40 MST Sunday, the questions were piling up at a phenomenal rate.

 

Regarding the game:

 

-          What invisible opponent knocked the ball from Drew Tate’s hands?

-          How did a seasoned team take a “too many men in the huddle” penalty?

-          Why did Nik Lewis feel the need to jump, do the splits, and forget to hold onto the ball when he had the chance to catch the most important ball Henry Burris has thrown in months?

-          After obviously finding a flaw in the Eskimo D, why minimize the gives to Jon Cornish in the 2nd half?

-          Did you know that 33% of the Stamps overall passing yards game on one play (Tate to Bryant for 58 yards in the 1st quarter)
