Football Jargon – Lesson #2
Posted 8/27/2008 7:00:00 AM
On July 21, my blog was titled, "Football Jargon – Lesson #1". As I indicated in that day’s blog, most professions use some form of "jargon" but "jargon" is used more often in football than other professions. I had several people tell me they enjoyed the explanation of some commonly used football jargon. So, here are more football jargon explanations that I use often in our broadcasts.

"Hook Area" The area on the field "vertically" from the line of scrimmage to an area 15 yards down field and "laterally" the area from outside the offensive tackle to the hash mark.

Random ponderings of the Stats Guy
Posted 8/22/2008 7:00:00 AM

(going into this season: 168 Calgary wins, 66 BC wins – including playoffs)

Who preceded Wally as the Lions coach before he took the reins in 2003? Former Lions G.M. Adam Rita. This one’s ...
