I feel so out of touch, so out of the loop. I must have missed the announcement regarding a landmark deal to proceed with the southwest portion of the Calgary ring road.
In late May, Premier Ed Stelmach blurted out that he expected a deal in place by the end of June, saying things were "aligned much better than they were a number of weeks ago." Since then, I've been anticipating an announcement the way a child waits for Santa Claus.
Okay, perhaps I really didn't believe there would be a deal. After all, Calgarians have been duped time and time again into believing an agreement was imminent. Why should this time be any different?
Well, now it's July and there is no ring road. There's no Santa either.
Maybe both the province and Tsuu T'ina Nation are close to a deal. Maybe not. Perhaps a deal ...
