Questions Raised About Concordia Disaster.

Since Friday’s disaster involving the cruise ship Costa Concordia many questions have been raised about how it could have happened, questions about the actions of the Captain and the crew and even more questions about the cruise industry in general.
The first thought that came to mind when seeing the photos of the Concordia was why was the ship so close to such a rocky shoreline? That seems to be the main question from many cruise analysts, why was the ship so close to shore? It appears from initial reports that the ship was off course, if so why? Did they have navigational equipment problems?
Initial reports indicate the Concordia’s Captain claimed the ship hit rocks that were not marked on his nautical charts, and that he did all he could to save lives. He told Italian television he was not to blame for the ship crashing into rocks. ...
